Informal workshop in
October 2024

We had a very good turn out for our informal workshop with invited guests ready to experience some basket making. The guests were from the sign-up sheets at the Living Craft Show at Hatfield House in May.

There was a variety of techniques and materials on offer. 

Doon taught how to make rush mats with rush provided by Iris. Deb brought willow and demonstrated how to weave platters. Sally showed how to create small fish shapes from willow. Iris used Deb’s wooden blocks to facilitate the corn dolly technique, also using willow. Other members were involved with diagonal plaiting using paper and bark.

Hazel brought an array of pieces using a great variety of plant materials, which were very inspiring.

A very successful day with thanks to the members involved. We now have six new members and all the visitors were very appreciative of members’ generosity of time and expertise.
